On Thursday, August 13, Las Campanas Observatory's cycle of online talks began, which will feature top-level speakers, all of whom are part of the observatory's staff. These talks will deal with various topics related to astronomy, technology, engineering and daily life at LCO.
All the talks will be transmitted live through the Youtube channel of the Las Campanas Observatory. No prior registration is required.
The first one was called "Light Pollution: The End of Astronomy" and was given by Dr. Guillermo Blanc, Head of Scientific-Technical Development at Las Campanas Observatory. It was followed by "Astronomy: Behind the scenes", by Gabriel Prieto, specialist in instruments and operations at LCO.
The third talk will be given on Thursday, August 27, and is entitled "Constellations and Mythology", by Dr. Francesco Di Mille, manager of technical operations at the observatory.
The cycle continues every Thursday at 7 pm. The complete program will be presented through LCO's social networks.
