NGC 5090
and its Close Companion NGC 5091
The above image is a 2800 s exposure (46+ minutes) of the elliptical galaxy NGC 5090 and its close companion, NGC 5091, a spiral galaxy. This image was taken in the I-band and the seeing was 0.51". The data were taken by Alan Dressler on April 1, 2001 with Magellan-Baade Telescope and the Tek#5 CCD. The globular clusters surrounding NGC 5090 are very evident in this very deep exposure.
