Magellan 1 - Baade Telescope - Instruments f/11

The Inamori Magellan Areal Camera and Spectrograph (IMACS) is a very versatile wide-field imager and multi-object spectrograph.

Persson's Auxiliary Nasmyth Infrared Camera (PANIC) is a general purpose 1-2.5 micron imager.

Magellan II - Clay Telescope - Instruments f/11

The Magellan Inamori Kyocera Echelle (MIKE) is a high-throughput double echelle spectrograph.

MIKE fibers is multi-object fiber feed for MIKE. It is supported as a user (P.I.) instrument by M. Mateo at the University of Michigan.

The MagE (Magellan Echellette) Spectrograph is a moderate-resolution optical echellette.

Magellan II - Clay Telescope - Instruments f/5

  • Megacam -    Commissioning... First Science runs begin 09 April, 2010.

Megacam is a large mosaic CCD camera with a 24' x 24' field-of-view. The camera uses 36 2048 x 4608 pixel CCDs with a scale of 0.08"/pixel. Megacam is operated in campaign mode at the f/5 CASS focus.

  • MMIRS -    Commissioning... First Science runs begin 26 March, 2010.

MMIRS is a JHK imager and multislit spectrograph employing a 2048 by 2048 pixel Hawaii-2 array and is operated in campaign mode at the f/5 CASS focus.

Other Instruments:

  • LDSS3 - Specs    Currently operating at CLAY NASW as a PI instrument until early May 2010

The Low Dispersion Survey Spectrograph (LDSS-3) is a high efficiency, wide-field multislit spectrograph.

  • MagIC - Specs   Currently removed from operation. Should be installed at CLAY NASW in late May 2010
The Raymond and Beverly Sackler Magellan Instant Camera (MagIC) is a direct CCD imager.
